1: What size do you need? Width, height, shape, and length?
The is normally the first question we ask, For the tunnel shape led display, they are all customized. The size is crucial in the cost, as well as determine the following specs such as pixel pitch. For the tunnel led display, shape is also important, we have made many different shape, in the picture below, you can see our former design for the customer. The most popular shape for the tunnel is still the one with straight wall and a semi-circle top. You can give us the size and shape that you need, and then we can design for you.
2: What is the application? What content you want it to display?
The reason for asking such questions is that we would to know what kind of pixel pitch would you need? As the smaller the pixel pitch, the higher resolution and a lot higher price it would be. So we need to find out what kind of visual effect do you want to achieve? And based on your requirements to give you more suitable proposals. To know this, you can have an idea in mind Like how close your customer would view from the tunnel to get your desired visual effect? When we talked about the visual effect, it has two factors to consider. Do you more focus on details or do you more focus on the overall visual effect?
1:Focus on details.
When people walk in the middle of the tunnel, it means that the people’s viewing distance from the left and right tunnel is half the distance of the width. To make the viewing effect better, normally we would suggest the pixel pitch used is less than width/2*0.8 to be the pixel pitch of the tunnel, to maintain a good visual effect.
2: Focus on Overall Visual effect.
If you focus on Overall visual effect, then the pixel pitch can go a little bigger, as when people is in the tunnel, they would be attracted by the main content on the display, which means it is not the left or right part, he/she would not focus on small details but the big picture. And when he/she focus on the big picture, he/she would neglect the low resolution of parts of the tunnel.
3: Is it a fixed installation or temporary use?
The reason for asking this question is that for the tunnel shape led display, the overall shape are customized with sheet iron cabinets, those cabinets are connected using bolts and nuts. The sheet iron cabinets with the led boards is around 35kg/sqm, it is a lot of weight which might deform the sheet iron cabinets that cause safety problems. Normally if it is a fixed installation, we would suggest it to go with a supporting structure. That all the weight of the tunnel led display is evenly distributed on the supporting structure.
3.1: Does it need a supporting structure?
This depending on the usage, for example, if this is only use for several days, then without supporting structure is ok, but if it need say several month, or fixed installation, then would suggest to have a supporting structure. Depending on the installation site’s condition, we can also put bolt the tunnel display’s cabinet on the wall which is also ok.
4: Do you need GOB treatment?
GOB is a protective layer on the led board that can protect the display from Scratches, and bumping. You can find more details in this link:GOB LED ディスプレイの究極ガイド
We do suggest to use GOB treatment on the tunnel shape led display as when people walk through the tunnel, people would touch or scratch the led display. It would increase some cost, but worthwhile.
5:Installation site’s picture
One thing that we learned from our experience is that it is very difficult to describe the installation site’s situation. As the customer’s concern part sometimes does not fit our concern parts. For example, when we do the design, we have many thing to consider, such as the thickness of the cabinet, or does it need the supporting structure, all of those need space. So a installation site’s picture can solve a lot of our problems when we get all the possible points into consideration. And we can also give you a better proposal.
6:How to use the tunnel shape led display?
Tunnel shape led display is just like other led display, only difference is that, normally the tunnel shape led display’s resolution is over 4K, So a Media server and video splicer type sending box are needed. We would give you the resolution of the tunnel, and you can make customized content based on this resolution. And you can use the playback software on the Media server to display the content. All the configuration of the media and the Video splicer are already set, you just connect the cable as we required, and it is a turn-key solution
6.1: What is a media server?
Normally for led display project, when the resolution of the led display is over 4K, we would use a Media server, Media server can be deemed as a powerful computer. Normally for normal projects, we use our own computer to feed the video content to the sending box, while normally our computer only can output 4K. So for project over 4K, it would in need a strong Graphics card, and the Media server is the computer with the strong Graphics card. For different applications, we have different Graphics card options which different output abilities. So the media server is customizable to save the cost. Another thing is, when the computer is over 4K, it also need a strong playback software to display the content, and the Media server has built in with a playback software with license. So you do not need to pay for the playback software anymore.
7:How much heat does it generate?
Depending on the size and the room’s air flow conditions, While it does generate a lot of heat.
According to the working principle of LED display, the normal working mode through the electric power is mainly used to generate light and heat, combined with our long-term theory and engineering measured data, During the LED display electric power depletion, about 40% generate light , 60% generate heat (including LED chip, driver IC,control card, wire and so on the heat depletion )
While the Power supplier that we use normally has a efficiency of 85-91%,which means around 9-15% (let’s make it 12% for the calculation below) of the consumed energy of the PSU would be converted into heat.
So say a led display’s average wattage is 1kw, then it would have around 1000*0.12 + 1000*0.88*0.6=648W of heat. So Air condition and air flow is quite important. While normally, for the tunnel shape led display, when it is placed in a well air flow place, the temperature is around 1-2°C higher than the out space.
8: How to install tunnel shape led display?
The installation of the tunnel shape led display is easy, We installation the supporting structure first, then we put the cabinet on the supporting structure, then we connect the cables, then we put the led boards on the cabinet. Only few parts need to notice.
When install the cabinets, the near cabinet should be connected evenly, as this is crucial for the evenness of the total led display. If the cabinet is uneven, then the final led display would have many obvious splicing seams which is bad visually.
When attach the led boards on the cabinet, make sure that the led boards is aligned with the edge of the cabinet, as if it has some angles, then in the end, it would add a lot of deviation which makes it bad.
9:How to Maintenance?
The tunnel shape led display is consisted by the cabinet frame, PSU, Receiving card, Flexible LED Boards, Cables, and the control system.The cabinet frame normally does not need maintenance. The tunnel shape led display are all Front maintenance, which means that we can replace the failed parts from the surface of the led display. Below is the method
Led boards: when you find a led board acts abnormal or have dead pixels, you can swap it with a spare led board. The process is quite easy as the video below:
Receiving card: when you spot a section place’s led boards act abnormal(led board is still lighting), It might be the problem of the receiving card. But most of the time, this is a problem of the config file. But if it is real the problem of the receiving card, you can remove the led boards above the receiving card, and swap the receiving card with a spare receiving card then upload the config file to the new receiving card.
PSU: When you spot a section place’s led boards didn’t light up, it might be the problem of the PSU Or the receiving card, you can remove the led boards of that section, then you can see the receiving card and the PSU, the receiving card has indication led, if the receiving card has power, it then means the PSU is good, it is the receiving card’s problem, if the receiving card also does not have power, then it would be the problem of the PSU, you can swap the PSU ( Notice to cut off the power before change the PSU)
Cables: It contains many different types of Cables, such as power cable, signal cable, and 5V Power cable, Pin signal cable. Each would have its own function. You can just swap the broken ones with the spare.
