Difficulties of this project
This project is to install a LED display on the entrance of a shopping mall to display advertisements. Total led display size around 144sqm. This shopping mall’s entrance has a huge glass window, and after installed the LED Display, the LED display won’t prevent the natural sunlight from getting into the shopping mall.
As the customer do not want the led display to block the sunlight, hence in this project we would use transparent led display. This project has a lot of challenges, we work deeply with the customer to work out a complete solution. The main difficulties are as below:
1:Single Window size is 1165mm W x 3440mm H. Normal transparent led display’s cabinet size is based on 500mm. Hence this would need to customize the cabinet size.
2:Every window has frame, and this frame would cause trouble in configuration. otherwise, the image displayed on the screen would not be in right ratio.
3: The led display would have sunlight expose, hence need high brightness
4: Pixel pitch selection

As the screen would be installed 8m from the ground, then the best viewing distance would be bigger than 11.3m ( assuming our eye’s viewing angle is 45 degrees from the ground). Hence we suggest the customer use pixel pitch around 10mm.
While the window’s size is 1165mm W x 3600mm H, and latter customer decided the top window only use 1680mm in height. Hence after calculation, The final screen area would be 24pcs size 1165mm W x 3600mm H window, 8pcs size 1165mm W x 1680mm H window and 8pcs 1165mm x 3040mm windows.
In order to customize less transparent LED display cabinet and less led board. finally we came out with two cabinet size. 1165mm W x 560mm H, and 1165mmW x 640mm. And to make it easy to design the circuit. We made the pixel pitch X:9.1mm, Y:10mm. Hence for cabinet 1165mm x 640mm, it would a resolution of 128*64, and for cabinet 1165mm x 560mm, it would have a resolution of 128*56.
Of course for different projects, we can also customize different transparent led display cabinet size and pixel pitches to suit your project the best.
As the LED Display would face sun, hence we would suggest the LED Display to be over 4500nits. and in the end it work out very good.
Difficult in configuring the transaprent led screen
As the window has frames, in order to make the displaying content with the right ratio, we need to set blank pixels on the frame area. The vertical frame width of the window is around 12cm, The horizontal frame width of the window is around 12cm . according to our pixel pitch of the cabinet, we told our customer to set blank horizontal gap to be 10 pixels, and blank vertical gap to be 12pixel.
In the end, the screen connection layout would be as below, though the LED screen’s resolution screen part’s resolution is 1024*1552. But due to the window frame, when we customize the display content, we need to customize the video’s resolution as 1094*1600.
