What is small pitch led screen
For a certain size led screen, with smaller pixel pitch, the bigger resolution and shorter viewing distance the screen can be. With more resolution, the screen can show more details with the same image. With shorter viewing distance, we can use the screen in more applications. Small pixel pitch led screen is the led screen whose pixel pitch is among 1mm-2.5mm. Popular pixel pitch have 1.25mm, 1.56mm, 1.875mm, and 2.5mm.

If using pixel pitch 6mm, The screen size would be 11.52m W x 6.48m H, Which is not realistic
While if using pixel pitch 1.875mm, the screen size would be narrow down to 3.6m W x 2.025m H, similar to the projector’s area. But way much better viewing experience.

Types of small pitch led screen

Small pixel pitch flexible led screen is normally used in applications that needs to make a curve shape. We need to customize the cabinet from project to project. Different technology of small pixel pitch led screen
When the pixel pitch gets smaller, it required that the package of the led lamp should also get small. While the package of the led lamp can not become small all the way down, and when the package becomes smaller, the Electrodes on the package would also become smaller which makes the soldering on the PCB board become weak. There are four technology used in small pitch led screen led lamps. SMD, GOB, COB, and 4in one lamp.
SMD: This is the original led lamp used in small pixel pitch led screen, popular led lamp has SMD1010 for making pixel pitch 1.25mm, SMD1212 for making Pixel pitch 1.56, SMD1515 for making pixel pitch 1.875mm and SMD 2020 for making pixel pitch 2.5mm. The benefit is that there have many supplier, and also price is cheap. While as mentioned above, as the package become smaller, the electrodes also become smaller, which would make the soldering contact on the PCB not strong enough (especially under moisture), and would cause dead pixels.
GOB: GOB is a technology used to upgrade SMD. GOB means glue on board which means put a layer of glue on the SMD led board. As the glue is fixed, hence it can protect the led lamp from scratch, and also protect the lamp from moisture which means the led module have less dead pixels rate. It can also enlarge the viewing angle of the led screen.
The drawback is that even with the same batch glue, it is still possible that those glue would have color difference, which reflect on the led module.
COB: COB means chip on board, which means putting the led chip directly on the pcb board. In doing so, the led lamp does not need package anymore. The height of the led module also become smaller. It can also making even smaller pixel pitch.
The drawback are. First: it need a big investment in COB machine, Second: If there is a dead pixel, you can not repair it by changing a lamp, you would need to send it back to the factory. Third: Even produce in the same batch, the led module’s surface might have color difference. Fourth: The price is also very expensive.
4 in one lamp: 4in one lamp means 1 package consists 4 led lamps(pixels). As some of the electrodes can be used together, hence using 4 pixels in 1 package can save the electrodes and the size of the package can also become bigger which would be good for SMT process and soldering.
The drawback: The pixel pitch is determined by the 4 in one lamp, As there have four pixels in one package, hence the pixel pitch of the led screen is already determined by the adjoint pixels. This makes it tough to make different pixel pitch screen products. The price is also expensive.

1:High contrast rate
For all led lamp used in small pixel pitch led screen are all black cover lamps, which would makes the surface of the led screen has a darker background. Besides when the pixel pitch become smaller, the gap among the led lamp also become smaller, which also enhance the dark background.
