Screen connection layout
The LED screen connection would be as below, that the video source connected with the sending box (video controller) through HDMI/DVI/DP/etc cable. The configuration computer connect the sending box with USB cable/RJ45 cable (configuration computer is the computer to do all the setting for the led screen, while normally the input video source is also from the configuration computer. Hence normally the configuration computer would also connected with the sending box through HDMI/DVI/DP/etc, hence you would notice the change of the led screen better when do the configuration), Then the sending box would connect the led screen through RJ45 cable (signal cable)
The led screen is made up by LED cabinets (also can be called LED Panel), It consists 3 main parts,
1:LED module, where the LED lamp are, and it is the displaying surface of the led screen.
2: Frame, Where the LED module and PSU+receiving card unit are fixed on, is the structure to sustain a certain shape for the cabinet and future led screen. In customized led screen, it might have different frame shape.
3: PSU+Receiving card Unit, which suppliers the power to the led module, and also decode the signal and feed the signal to the led module.
Though different led screen project might use a different led screen product. but those three main parts is the same.
Receiving card configuration file
The signal flow goes like this,
1:The video source is encoded with the HDMI format (if using HDMI cable) and feed to the Sending box.
2:Sending box decode the video source, then encode it with its own FPGA protocol ( this is the reason, that different control system does not compatible with each other), then feed this streaming to the receiving card.
3: The receiving card would decode this streaming ( actually it is just a series of data that consists with coordinates, lamp brightness data), then it would control different pixel within this cabinet to show the right brightness and color.
As the led module has different specs, hence for different led module, the receiving card would need a different decoding method. And the Receiving card configuration file is for this purpose. We would make the receiving card’s configuration file based on the led module’s specs. Hence the led module can behave normally. Wrong receiving card’s configuration file would cause random image on the led cabinet or nothing at all.
After we have configured the receiving card’s configuration file, we would store it in the receiving card. Hence normally you do not need to change this. And it would always remain the same. ( so do not make change for this)
Screen connection configuration file
As the screen is made up by cabinets, and cabinets are connected by RJ45 cable. Actually those RJ45 cable are through. For example, if one screen are made up by 10 pcs cabinets, and those 10 pcs cabinets are all connected through one main signal cable, then from cabinet 1 to cabinet 10 are all getting the same signal. ( normally if this sending box does not have a screen connection configuration file before, then after you connected to the computer, all the cabinet would show the same content , and if the computer is in duplicate mode, (say the cabinet’s resolution is 128*128), then the all the cabinet would show the image of the computer’s screen area from (0,0)-(128,128).
That’s why you would need a screen connection configuration file, the screen connection configuration file is the file tells which cabinet to display which areas of the computer. And it is stored in sending box.
